Pigeons

So I know I should probably love all of God's creatures but I just can't bring myself to loving cockroaches and pigeons. Of course those are the animals that love the weather conditions here in Vegas so I have to just deal with it. I have had a few bad encounters with both but this post is about pigeons. First a while back I went to feed my dog and heard a funny noise coming from the dog food. Inside sure enough was a pigeon. I drug the bag of food out into my driveway and beat it with a stick until the pigeon flew out. (The pigeon was unharmed by the way). Next a little while ago I reached into get food out of the bag and much to my surprise I grabbed a pigeon instead. I came running and screaming into the house. Dave still likes to bring that one up. Well...my best pigeon encounter happened Thursday night. I came home from a baby shower and pulled into the garage. Two pigeons flew into the garage which is weird because they usually aren't out at night. I spent the next 45 minutes throwing crushed ice at them trying to get them to leave. They would fly around and then perch somewhere else in my garage. I soon began to realize that they were most interested in one corner of my garage so I became suspicious that they had nested there. Well, I climbed up on a ladder and tried to see but couldn't find anything. I was getting more and more angry and actually started talking to and threatening these birds. That didn't work either so I got a squirt bottle and started squirted them. They were soaked and still wouldn't get out of my garage. By this time I had moved my car out of the driveway hoping that the more open space would encourage them to leave. They had perched a couple of times on my garage door and so I would close it and they would fly around, sometimes right at my head. Well, they landed on my small garage door and so I closed it and neither bird moved in time so I had these too pigeons smashed between my house and the garage door window. They were staring at me with desperate eyes so I hurried and opened the door again and heard a thump...thump. I shut the doors and thought I was safe until I remembered that my car was still running outside of the garage. I opened the door and ran as fast as I could to my car and pulled it in the driveway. Both birds were still sitting in my driveway totally in shock when Dave came home an hour later. The next morning they were both gone so I figured they had got themselves pulled together but later in the afternoon my neighbors dog got a hold of a bird that apparently wouldn't fly away. Hmmm...I wonder why.

This from the girl who cried when the cat caught a mouse?

I'm not looking forward to moving back to roach country.

Laughing so hard I'm crying! You make me laugh!! I like your way of disposing of "pests". I could only imagine what it must have looked like to watch this event from across the street! I'm glad they weren't like killer Pigeons or something...:).
