I took Lauryn and Clara to see the play of the Wizard of Oz or as they called it the Dorothy play. It was put on by a local group of kids who are being instructed in a program called Broadway Bound. Some friends of ours started their own dance studio called Summerlin Dance Studio and now they have this Broadway program. I must say I was more than impressed. There was one 17 year old, one 16 year old, one 15 year old and the rest were 14 and younger. They were very professional and so well organized. It was amazing. Now... on to the best part of the show...my girls.
They were so excited about this play all week. They even got to wear their sparkly red Dorothy shoes. The shoes are too big and have been put away in their closet so this was very exciting. They saw the witches feet from under the table and they of course pulled her feet out of the table. They wanted to see her. No big deal I hurried and fixed her up and explained to the girls that this was only a decoration. It didn't take long for the girls to realize that as much as they LOVE Dorothy, in this play their favorite was Glinda. She was awesome. She is a Freshman in High School. Seriously??? I have a feeling we may see some more of her. They also loved the lion. He was hilarious.
So, great job to these performers and I had a blast spending the afternoon with just the girls. They made sure everyone knew this was "just the girls".
