This is the Hatteras Lighthouse. It was very cool and is now one of my favorites. It is the tallest one and in 1999 they actually moved this lighthouse because the shoreline had changed so much that it was about to fall into the ocean. I loved its red base.
This is the beach right outside of where we stayed. Very relaxing. There was also a cat that tried to make its home with us. It even came and watched TV through our window. I have a feeling that someone who stayed where we were had fed this cat before.
This is the top of some sand dunes. The sand was so soft that we left our shoes in the car and went for a hike through these dunes. Our kids would have been in heaven here.
One morning we went on a kayak trip up an inlet of water. We were hoping to see some wildlife but I guess everything is still hibernating. We didn't even see any birds. It was a very peaceful and beautiful trip through these channels.
This is a view down the channel. We actually ended at a covered bridge but I liked this picture better.

It looks beautiful. After hearing you talk about it, I want to go there. I didn't realize that lighthouse is the one that we painted to make lamps.
