spring break staycation

This year I decided to stay in town and do a staycation.  We are headed to the beach in a few weeks and I didn't want to make the trip twice so we do live in a tourist city so why not tour here?  Well...I forgot that everyone west of the Mississippi also chooses Las Vegas for spring break.  We started at the Shark Reef.
My kids LOVE the Shark Reef.  We go there often.  Usually there aren't too many people there and we can run around and go through the exhibits over and over.  This time we had to wait in a LONG line just to get in. Once we got in, it wasn't so bad.  We couldn't run around as much as we usually do but the kids were good and they enjoyed themselves.
On of our favorite things at the shark reef is this cool octopus.

After the Shark Reef we went to the Rainforest Cafe.  I don't know if there has ever been a more overpriced restaurant.  We totally pay for the atmosphere.  After lunch we took a little stroll down the street to M&M world.  It was body to body in there and I spent our life savings on M&Ms.
A few days later we went to the Adventuredome.  Do you see a theme here?  This was a week of lack of judgement on my part.  It was my first and last visit to this place.  The kids loved it.  Clara did get a little upset because she wasn't tall enough to ride the roller coaster.  Someday when she is tall enough I will let Dave take her there.
We had a little family picnic at the park.  I went all out with some pizza from Little Caesars.  Lauryn is developing some mad photography skills.
Cameron and Dave were able to fit in a little roller hockey.
I cannot get enough of this little girl.  She is a delight.
This little smile lights up whatever space she enters. (as long as she is in a good mood).
We ended the week with Easter.  We colored our eggs this year with the old traditional dye and also tried kool-aid. I highly recommend the kool-aid.  It was awesome.
remember what I said about this smile?  I wasn't kidding.  Isn't she so cute.
Cameron is very proud of his bright beautiful egg.  He is especially proud of his BYU eggs.

To finish off a great Spring Break we headed to church on Easter Sunday.  I am one of the smart Moms who buys their kids big dresses so they can wear them two years in a row.  I put them away and then they are so excited when we get them out again for Easter.

Don't let this little princess fool you...
She packs... she thinks she is She-Ra.  I wish I would have caught on video when she pulled her sword out from behind her back and said "by the power of grey skull!!!"  I was just glad I noticed this BEFORE we got to church.

Love Clara's pose in the first picture and totally awesome to hide a sword under ringlets. Why didn't I ever think of that?? Love how Lauryn caught the light in the picnic photo. And Cameron is looking too big. I can't stand it! He's hardly a kid anymore! Hugs to all the kids from Aunt Kristin!
