escaping the heat

So in order to escape the heat we decided to join Dave for a drive up to the mountains.  I love getting away with my family where there is no phone, computer, TV, etc.  

you may remember this place. Dave has been building this cabin for a few years.  It is looking good and even has the sub floor in.  The kids love to go up here because they can wander around and get dirty and eat all kinds of junk food and I don't care.  We love to go for walks  to the pond.

This year we took along some of our friends.  Good thing we have a wagon to pull them with.

We love to throw rocks in the pond and "fish" for all kinds of muddy creatures.  It always takes the girls some time to get used to the flies and the ants.  I try to convince them that they are our friends but they don't believe me.

Unfortunately while we were playing at the pond...Cameron was doing this.  He got some sort of stomach bug and spent the whole morning puking and sleeping. Poor little guy.

Thank heavens he was filling great by the time we went for sno cones.

One of our favorite things about the cabin...our neighbors of course.   We love these girls.  They play with my kids and my kids think these girls are about the best thing around. I love it when Lauryn and Clara spend time with these ladies.  They are a good influence.  They are sweet and kind plus they let them brush their hair.  That is something I still can't get them to let me do.  A little bonus this time...their parents introduced us to some yummy BBQ.
