It is no secret that my favorite time of year is when school gets out. I love having the kids home and being able to relax a little bit more. But first...there are some important end of the year activities.
The girls performed in the school talent show. They played She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain when She Comes. Lauryn and their friend Maddie played a duet on the piano and Clara played along on the violin.
Lauryn had a great teacher this year. Her name was Ms. Miranda. She was patient and fun but she was very organized and structured. She loved Lauryn and she loved the way Lauryn would eat up everything she taught her. We will miss her. She was a great fit for Lauryn.
One of our favorite days of the year is field day. This year it was a little bit chilly. The girls still had a blast and got plenty wet. They didn't care.
Clara's teacher was fantastic. She has clearly left a lasting impression on her. In January her daughter became very ill and ended up in and out of the hospital. She nearly died. It was very traumatic and scary for her teacher who is a single mom of just this girl. Lauryn and Clara organized a bake sale/lemonade stand to earn money for her. They ended up earning about 250 dollars. It was an amazing experience for them. Ms. Blue will forever be our friend. We love her.
Over Memorial Day we headed to Pine Valley. This is a favorite place of ours. The weather this year was awesome. The kids did a lot of fishing and card playing and we even found a swimming hole. We will be visiting the swimming hole in the future.
The kids were all really brave because the water was freezing.
We found the Clara trailhead.
Lauryn loves to be in the outdoors with her friends. She loved the water and just being able to get dirty.
We got home just in time for Robbie to open his mission call. He got called to the Mexico, Tampico mission. He will not be leaving until November 1. We are all so excited to him.
Cameron had his end of the year recital. He played beautifully. He played music from Bach, Beethoven and some other awesome pieces. He nailed it.
His awesome sunday school teachers the Birds came. Katelyn-Jane plays the piano too so it was fun to have her come and listen.
Some of Cameron's friends came to hear him play. We all went to Cane's for dinner after. Cameron continues to amaze me with his ability to crush on the piano. He is amazing and we have realized that it is time for him to get a new piano. Shopping has started.
