We spent a few days between family reunions with Grammy and Grandad. We are super happy to have them home from their mission to North Carolina. One morning we went with some of our favorite people to the Tracy Aviary. Cameron has been begging to go here for a long time. It was a great little place.
I promised Cameron I would take Cameron to 'legends' up at BYU. It is where all of the great BYU athletes are honored. I thought we would be in and out but we were in for a surprise.Right as we walked into the weight room, the BYU basketball team was coming out. Cameron got to meet and take a picture with Collingsworth, (a new Freshman. I can't remember his name), Anson Winder, and Tyler Haws. They were very nice to him. I love college athletes because they are still usually humble.
We turned to leave and there was Brandon Davies. He is a Provo High graduate. He made a big stink (funny) about taking a picture with Cameron in a Timpview shirt.
This was one of my favorite things. Right as you walk into the administrative offices you see this wall that says BEAT UTAH. I love it. You won't see anything red in the whole building.
Back at Grammy's house Ava and Clara put crumbs on a paper towel to entice the ants so they could study them through a magnifying glass.
The girls put on a concert for Grandad with their homemade guitars. Jalen was the lead singer.
Aunt Kristin played about a million games of monopoly with Cameron. I think she may have won once.
sprinklers under the trampoline make summer so much fun.
So does throwing wet sponges at your cousins.
Eating ice cream sandwiches and getting photo bombed by the uncles.
sparklers
and fireworks. The great thing about Utah is the 24h of July is a state holiday. One more day for BBQs, parades and fireworks.
Cameron went over to Vernon Law's house. He got to see all of his cool awards including his Cy Young award. Vernon is a favorite of our family. He has been a good friend to us. He is a great man and a very good example of how a disciple of Christ should behave. His wife told me that he was always a good friend to the colored baseball players when being their friend wasn't cool. He slept on the bus when the hotels would refuse to give Roberto Clemente (his teammate) a room. I admire him and I am glad my son got to spend some time with him.
Equally as great is his sweet wife VaNita. She has made an impact in my life that I cannot convey into words. Through a simple (simple to her but huge to me) act of service she made a big difference in my life. Someday I will write a post simply about this experience.
