Its HOT outside

I don't know why I am always so surprised at how hot it can get in Vegas.  You would think I would be used to it by now.  I still hate July.  It has been about 115 for most of the last two weeks.  So what do you do in the blazing summertime???
You swim of course.  Sometimes with friends and neighbors.
 sometimes with the neighbors dog
when that gets old you go to the splash pad.  The kids have a great time while the Mom bakes in the heat.
You run like crazy through the water.
 or just do cartwheels instead
or if you are Cameron you spend the whole time feeding these little birds your bagel dog so that they will eventually eat from your hand.  Awesome.  Cameron got them to be so friendly that they even let him give them a little head scratch.  He was in heaven.
If you still can't cool off you head to the mountains.  We are loving our little place more and more.  Dave has spent most of the last five summers building this cabin.  We were super excited to finally be able to sleep inside the cabin.  Of course we brought along snowball.  He was super happy to be in the fresh air.
 Lauryn is ready to sleep.
We headed into Cedar City to celebrate the fourth of July small town style.  We LOVED it.  The parade threw plenty of candy.  That is very important.
We relaxed in the park and ate icees.
 super happy about those icees.
We still had a special fourth of July treat.
This is the back side of the cabin.  This is where the main living area is.  I think it is beautiful.  Dave has worked very hard on this place.  He has built most of it by himself.  He is a hard worker.  It has been difficult at times to have him gone so much but now that we can all go and have a place to hang out it is much better. The kids are a little older and so sometimes he takes them along without Mom.  They love it up here.  Cameron told me on this trip that he missed his Wii.  Exactly the point of this place my son.

This is by far the most exciting development in the cabin.  This was the first thing I requested to have installed on the inside.
Now I don't have to use this.  OK so I never used this but still...you get the point.  Super happy about the potty.
The girls loved going down in the crawl space under the cabin to "help" Dad.  I was a little freaked out by it myself.
We forgot a lighter to start a fire.  These little cuties were DETERMINED to build a fire by rubbing sticks together.
We spent one morning at Cedar Breaks.  This is a beautiful part of our country.  Truly magnificent.  We went on a few little hikes.  Cameron was totally freaked out and convinced that the girls were going to fall over the edge.  Our trip to the Grand Canyon in a few weeks should be interesting.
This place is only about 20 minutes from the cabin.  I am sure we will make many trips to this beautiful place.
The doll had a great time as well.
We have a family of little critters living in the wood pile behind the cabin.  The girls gave them all names.  This is grandpa Po.  We also have cupcake sprinkles and McKell.  I can't remember the rest of them.  I think one was Wreck it Ralph and I believe there was a Penelope Von Schweets.
We also have a bunch of hummingbirds.
Dave has been building the hearth.  The wood burning stove will be the next thing to be installed.
Cameron and Snowball needed a little nap.
On the way home we took the scenic drive through Kolob Canyon.  Another beautiful drive.  We were very interested to learn that they have been seeing California Condors here in Kolob Canyon.  We didn't see any but maybe someday we will.
We came home to a fire burning up at Mount Charleston.  It is so sad.  They don't think they will have it put out until July 19.

The cabin looks great! I think I will be freaking out with Cameron at the Grand Canyon.
