We finally made it to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We picked Dave up in Norfolk and spent a week in a beach house with the Jennings family. We love these cousins and we lvoe to be able to see them. We wish we could see them more often. It was so nice to relax.
The water was perfect. This was a summer of shark attacks. There had been about five attacks in the few weeks before we got there. We had to get out of the water a few times becomes there were signs of sharks. I was a little uneasy and nervous at first but the lifeguards helped us know what signs to look for and then the water got colder and sharks like warm water. We made sure Cameron didn't hear anything about sharks.
At the beach house we had our own private pool. It was a great way to get the sand and salt off of our bodies after a long day at the beach.
One evening we took family pictures near the pier. It was beautiful.
The kids couldn't get enough of their new little second cousin, Kaly.
There is not one person in the Jennings family that is not competitive. Clara came in second in a sand pole race. Garrett beat her by about an inch. They both ended up laid out in the sand.
My little babies. They hate it when I say that.
Clara the starfish.
Cute little Lauryn.
We played a funny game of whiffle ball.
everyone has to bat with and run the bases with props.
One of my favorite lighthouses it Hatteras. Dave and I came here a few years ago. I think it is beautiful. The lighthouse was being swept out to sea so they moved it.
from the top. Cameron doesn't love heights so he waited at the top.
Bodie Island. When Dave and I were here it was under construction.
more beach time.
we went ghost crab hunting. It was fun but a little creepy.
We stood in a circle and let all the crabs go at once. We tried to see who could last the longest. I think I was the first one to take off running.
It was a great reunion. We love seeing these cousins every two years. We love the friendships we share and the strength we feel from them.
