where did the summer go...

So school starts in one week and I still haven't blogged about the last day of school.  This should be enough to sum up the summer we have had.  It has been in Lauryn's words "Epic".  I have to agree with her.  The summer has been kind of magical and now I am looking back on it like a dream.  I love having my kids at home, sleeping in, going wherever whenever we want, lots of icees, green hair, and just relaxing a bit.  I dread the first day of school when the chaos begins again but I am so grateful that I get to send my children to people like this...
This is Mrs. Loubert.  She was Cameron's first grade teacher and has the disposition of an angel.  She is a cancer survivor and one of the most positive people i know.  We have grown to truly love her over the last 5 years and Lauryn was fortunate to be in her class.  Lauryn had a great year and continued to blossom with Mrs. Loubert.  Lauryn had a lot of friends in her class from church.  She is a great kid who always tries to do what is right.  She is smart and funny and her teacher loved having her.  Mrs. Loubert told me that she is a bright spot in her day.
Meet Mrs. Froman.  We didn't really know Mrs. Froman before this year.  She has been at the school for years and we had heard great things but we had to learn for ourselves.  She was the perfect fit for Clara.  She gets up on the table and dances and has tons of fun but she doesn't crap from anybody.  Especially a little boy who would not leave Clara alone.  Clara had a tremendous year. She didn't know too many kids in her class but quickly became best friends with all of them.  She is a natural leader and has no problem sharing her testimony.  She gave her teacher a Book of Mormon and I didn't even know about it until several weeks later when the teacher mentioned it to me.  There was a girl in her class who really struggles and gets in trouble a lot so Clara decided to maker her a friend.  I hope she will always do this.
Then we have our amazing P.E. teacher Mrs. Rogers.  I am pretty sure that if my kids had a choice they would go home with her instead of me.  She is amazing.  Her husband also works at the school.  The two of them spend many many hours serving the children with after and before school programs that they do out of the goodness of their hearts.  This is the kind of person I love sending my kids to.
This is our Principal Mr. Hudzick.  He is a rock star to the kids.  They love him and there is no question that he loves them.  He is  top notch and we hope he sticks around for at least four more years.
How many people even know their janitor let alone hug him every time they see him.  This is Mr. Dibble or as Clara calls him "Dibble Daddy Donuts".  This man is a teddy bear.  He comes to the primary program and the kid's baptisms.  He is a treasure.  Each day at lunch he walks around the lunch room and gives the kids milkshakes by shaking up their milk.  They think this is the funniest thing ever.

One thing that is difficult about Cameron in Jr. High is that I don't have the same contact that I had with the elementary school.  He too has had some great experiences with teachers. They love him.  He hit some typical Jr. High bumps along the way but he had plenty of people in his corner and for that I am thankful.

OK now I calming down about the kids going back to school.  I just have to remind myself that there are some awesome and loving people that I am sending them to.

Whew!
