We decided to surprise Cameron with a trip to Hawaii for the BYU vs Hawaii football game. He has been wanting to go to Hawaii for a few years. For a while he was saving his money until he realized he would have to save for two tickets and a hotel. We decided to keep it a secret because if he knew he would drive everyone crazy.
The night before we left the girls slept over with our old neighbors and friends the Francis family. They were so excited for their special time with Emily. I was a little worried about leaving them but they did great. After a few nights with the Francis' they came back home and my sister and her two kids were here. I think my sister was ready for a long winters nap by the end of the week.We woke Cameron up at 5am. We told him we were going on a special trip. At first he wanted to be surprised but he couldn't stand it and asked for some clues. Number 1. He has never been there before.
2. It is warm 3. If he could go anywhere in the world where would he go. He knew exactly where we were going. He was SUPER excited. Then when he realized we were going to the football game he about passed out. Unfortunately he got sick and threw up the whole way to Hawaii but he did good and used the barf bags all the way until about 2 hours away from Honolulu where he couldn't get the bag out of the tray table and threw up on Dave. I was glad he was facing that direction. Luckily it was only a 12 hour thing and he was fine after a few hours.
At Hanauma Bay. This is a beautiful view. There is something very relaxing about the ocean. We did a little snorkeling. Cameron wanted to snorkel but was very nervous.
Dave helped him to feel more comfortable and he was able to see some pretty cool fish.
We stopped at the macadamia nut factory. This was more of a tourist trap than anything else but since we were tourists I guess it was alright. My parents came with us. It was fun to have some time with them before they go on their mission. (they just called to North Carolina).
A visit to the beautiful Laie temple. This is the most beautiful location for a temple. It overlooks the water. Cameron's favorite part of the temple were the giant snails we saw there.
This is a hole that was created in one day by a tsunami on Laie point.
I should mention that this was also our 12th anniversary. I know most people dont' travel with their kids for their anniversary but there was no way we were leaving Cameron home for this one.
a little wake boarding. I should apologize for the man in the back ground. I have no idea who he is.
We ate some yummy treats at Ted's bakery. I didn't think I would ever need to eat again.
We also hit the semi-finals and the finals of the Vans world cup of surfing. It was really cool to watch these guys catch these enormous waves. This was the highlight of the trip for Dave. He had always wanted to go to this surfing competition. We hit it by chance.
The waves were unruly on the North Shore. Cameron kept playing in the water it was making my Mom really nervous.
Just chillin' with Grandad.
Shaved Ice at Matsumotos. This is the best place for shaved ice. If anyone knows where you can get this kind of shaved ice in Las Vegas, please share.
Our last night we stayed in Waikiki so we would be close to the airport. Thanks for Grammy for this great hotel room.
Cameron was super excited for the game. Grandad got us great tickets. We were on the 4th row.
At halftime Ty Detmer, former Heisman winner, came up to say hello to us. OK so maybe he was coming to see someone else but as far as we know he came to see us.
Cameron and Cosmo.
the final score. Go Cougars!
This is Cameron's favorite player, Cody Hoffman. I was hoping he would be able to meet him. It was like he came out of nowhere to meet Cameron. I love this picture.
On the way home the pilot let Cameron come in and check out the cock pit. Apparently he asked a lot of questions. We had a great time. It was fun to spend some time with just Cameron.

Oh Tiff I love this blog!!!! How fun for you guys and how fun for Cameron. As I was reading about your trip to the No. Shore I was worried you hadn't hit Matsumotos, but am relieved you did. :) My parents were there too. And YAY!!! For your parents to go on their mission. Isn't that where your sister is?
What a great trip. It's always fun to travel with family and Cameron was just great. We love you Cam.
Great pictures of Cameron! What a fun trip. (P.S. I think I'm finally recovered.)
How fantastic! Did you remind Ty of the birthday wish come true in high school??? You remember, when he came to your house... Oh memories.
Jesicca, I TOTALLY reminded Ty Detmer of him coming to my house for my birthday. I still have the picture with him. Best present I got that year. One of the best presents ever. YOU ROCK!!!
